Pale crimson. Light boned with some crème-pâtissière sweetness at first and then a very dry finish. A long way to go. A serious wine. (JR)

Good full medium red. Musky, low-toned aromas of strawberry, coffee and spicy oak. Drier and oakier than the Rocche, showing a liqueur-like quality but uncompromising dryness to the medicinal cherry flavor. Finishes with serious, youthfully tough tannins that will require patience. Quite backward today: I'd forget about this wine for at least six or seven years.

Pale ruby. Savoury, earthy and backward with a sweet spice note. Opens up to savoury, ripe strawberry and cherry. Elegant palate weight. Gripping, muscular tannins on a long, fragrant finish. (WS)

Commune of Castiglione Falletto. Developed looking palish ruby with orange rim. Soft, round and not that demanding. A little alcoholic. (WS)
