The 2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a pleasingly energetic bouquet with yellow plum and light grapefruit scents. Initially a little leaner in style than its peers, it then bursts forth with more tropical fruit that feels a bit obvious. The thickly textured palate is balanced but overall quite simple considering it is a Grand Cru, lightly spiced with a pretty if smudged finish due to some botrytis. It just doesn't stick in the memory as a Grand Cru ought to. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has an attractive bouquet with Golden Delicious, fresh pear, grilled walnuts and a touch of smoke coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with lime and orange cordial on the entry, a little toasty in style with a heavy reduction on the finish. This is quite tricky to read at the moment.
