The 2007 Cuvée Jeanne Marie is a sexy, mature, yet still youthful blend of 60% Grenache, 33% Syrah, and the balance Mourvèdre brought up all in once and twice-used barrels. Blackberry, black raspberry, toasted spice and licorice notes give way to a ripe, beautifully textured, layered 2007 that has loads to love. With integrated tannin, good purity and solid freshness, drink it over the coming 4-5 years.

The 2007 Cuvee Jeanne Marie Williamson-Dore Vineyard is a blend of 60% Grenache, 33% Syrah, and 7% Mourvedre, bottled without fining or filtration. California’s version of a big, rich Cotes du Rhone, this full-bodied wine displays loads of kirsch, lavender, spice box, and herbs in a fleshy, succulent, seductive style. The color is a healthy deep ruby with some purple nuances, and the wine is irresistible. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. Foxen’s lighter-styled, more evolved 2008s are delicious, charming efforts without the density of the brilliant 2007s. However, do not underestimate them. Tel. (805) 937-4251
