The 2010 La Fleur de Gay lacks a little cohesion and delineation on the nose, a bit animally compared to its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with supple furry tannins, plenty of black fruit. There is some dryness towards the chocolaty finish that is highlighted by its juxtaposition against more fruit-driven finishes in this flight. I was expecting more, though questions were raised when I last tasted it several years ago. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal.

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 La Fleur de Gay features a lot of cedar/oak to begin, giving way to a core of black cherry preserves, warm blueberries and spice cake plus wafts of tobacco and new leather. Full-bodied, the palate has an abundance of rugged, chewy tannins with rather attenuated fruit and a rustic finish.
Tasted blind. Deep garnet with brick rim. Strong mocha aroma and opens out to a floral (lavender?) note. Sweet fruited, with dry, fine, compact tannins but not tough. Fresh but thick textured still. (JH)
