Score 89/100 · Drink 2000-2005, Robert Parker, Dec 2000

The 1999 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard offers overripe jammy strawberry/cherry fruit, and a touch of smoky, toasty oak. The wine (542 cases) is relatively fat, fleshy, and pure, with plenty of black fruit and a plump personality. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. (Release date 3/01) Tel. Medium red. Slightly reduced, smoky aromas of strawberry, raspberry, loam, earth, cola, underbrush and tarry oak. Sweet and pliant on the palate, with strawberry and earth flavors offering early appeal. Finishes with ripe, sweet tannins. This was a "good, cool, late year for this region," notes Lee; the grapes are normally harvested in September but were picked on October 15 in '99.
