Drink 2029-2045, FINE+RARE, Oct 2025

The Boillot family has owned the monopole vineyard Clos de la Mouchère for over 80 years – and the 2024 is the 41st vinified by Henri Boillot. The four-hectare walled vineyard sits within Les Perrières, facing southeast on limestone and clay soils, and generally produces a particularly honeyed expression of the mineral site. 25% of this monopole is coming from young vines (15 years old vines), and the rest from very old vines over 80 years of age. Please note that Henri had to replant 0.5ha in 2023 and is planning to remove another 0.5ha in the coming year, reducing considerably the yields for the coming years. It has once again delivered a remarkable wine in 2024 – the standout of the tasting. The bouquet is aromatic, refined and layered, combining stony minerality with a subtle creamy depth, while the palate flows with sumptuous precision. The fruit is bright and mature, edging on lush, yet tightening into taut, zesty citrus that reins in the amplitude. It’s lively and poised, satin-textured, pristine and finely balanced. The mineral backbone carries the extended finish, tapering gracefully to hints of toasted almond and orange blossom that linger on the palate.

Mid yellow. There is a little touch of patisserie on the nose, showing the additional breadth of fruit on Henri Boillot’s favourite vineyard. That’s what gives the gourmandise to the wine, says Henri. This seems to have all the aspects with an excellent mineral backbone holding the fruit together. Lime blossom and acacia he finds, from the adjacent trees which flower at the same time. Very fine long finish.
