Mid lemon yellow. A smoky reduction on the nose. An oily note to the texture, a little burnt note as well, is that from the wood or just reduction? Slightly sour lemons skins to finish. Not in place today, but I would expect it to cheer up later on.
Outstanding. Smoky reduction is sufficient to overshadow the underlying fruit so if you're tempted to crack a bottle young, be sure to allow a few minutes for a thorough aeration. More interesting are the exuberantly fresh and bright middle weight flavors that possess good if not special density while exhibiting fine balance on the sneaky long finale. This is a lovely Puligny villages and almost delicate.

Based in Meursault and farming some of the finest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, Henri Boillot is a leading address in Burgundy. He crafts fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but the estate is best known for its flagship monopole vineyard, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos de la Mouchère.
