Concentrated fruit character, opens with bilberry and blackberry, a ton of smoked and grilled cedar, this has help up better than the 2009, but the flash of heat throws things off balance, and the mid-palate drops.

Dark, glowing blackish crimson. Sweet and juicy. Dry finish. Very unformed and crudely bittersweet. Not much on the finish. (JR)

Good deep red-ruby color. Sexy black raspberry, licorice, tobacco, dried herbs and a Graves-like iron note on the nose and palate, with complementary smoky oak. Rich, vinous and nicely perfumed, conveying a tactile impression of extract and good limestone lift. The raspberry element carries through in the mouth. Finishes subtle and complex, with fine tannins. An excellent vintage for this property, which has cut down on the percentage of new oak since the early '00s.
