The 2023 Zinfandel Mancini Ranch is a wild, exotic wine. The 15% mixed blacks drive a profile marked by strong, deeply pitched aromatics. Crushed flowers, sage, mint, lavender and pine play off a core of cool blue-toned fruit. This gracious, open-knit Zinfandel-based red is a total delight.

Originating on the corner of Piner and Olivet Road, the 2023 Zinfandel Mancini Ranch is from old vines planted in 1922 and pours a youthful, rich purple color. It’s perfumed and expressive in the glass with lavender oils, menthol, preserved blackberries, and fresh sage. Mouthwatering from the jump, it’s full-bodied and is both rich and taut, with a vibrant spine of acidity, a balanced coating richness of pure fruit to balance it out, and a saltiness on the finish. Drink 2026-2040. Mike Officer’s 2023s are exceptional and should not be missed. Backed by his decades-long dedication to seeking out and championing exceptional sites and farmers, these wines deliver hedonistic pleasure and intellectual curiosity in spades. Not to mention, they far overdeliver for the price points.
