From a parcel planted in 1919, the 2023 Meursault Les Grands Charrons is another of the high-points in the range, unfurling to reveal aromas of pear and other sweet orchard fruits mingled with hazelnuts and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, with a textural core of fruit underpinned by chalky structure, it concludes with a saline finish.

The 2023 Meursault Les Grands Charrons comes from vines planted in 1929 (the oldest in the Domaine), and this year, it comprises four barrels. This is a step up from the Crotots: well-defined and more mineral-driven, with a light marine influence surfacing with time. The palate is very well balanced, with a lovely bitter lemon note on the entry. It's a relatively "sedate" Meursault, refined and elegant, but the finish still has tangible energy. A long-term prospect.
