2024 Chardonnay Margaret River

The Pierro Chardonnay is one of the great wines of Australia, and its release each year is always eagerly anticipated. I like the consistency of the wine, in that it has always been true to its site and maker. Here, the 2024 Chardonnay is nutty, concentrated and fresh, with loads of fruit personality from the warm, dry season. There are notes of roasted cashews, ripe yellow peach, pink grapefruit and fennel. The impact of malolactic fermentation on the palate is more pronounced than in previous years, to my memory, but it fits hand in glove with the almond meal, nuts, spices and rich fruit profile. This is a superb wine. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
