(13.5% alcohol): Moderately saturated medium red. Slightly high-toned aromas of redcurrant, coffee and mocha, plus a gravelly suggestion of warm rocks. Juicy and easy to drink, with plum and cherry fruit framed by slightly sour acidity. This seems to be past its peak and should be consumed in the next several years.

I have been critical of some of Forman's Cabernet Sauvignons in the decade of the eighties for not developing the aromatic complexity and intensity I had expected. The 1985 would also benefit from a more complex bouquet, but it was hard not to like its flashy display of ripe blackcurrant fruit and spicy oak. Medium to full-bodied, pure, clean, and well-focused, this oenologically correct wine exhibits plenty of depth, ripeness, and character. Still young, it should last for another 10-15+ years. If more pleasing aromatics develop, this wine could merit an outstanding rating.
