Score 88/100 · Drink 2016-2022, Robert Parker, Oct 2016

As for their Rhône Ranger offering, the 2014 Syrah (95.25% Syrah co-fermented with 4.75% Viognier) comes from multiple Syrah clones, including the famous Alban clone from Paso Robles. The wine is aged 16 months in neutral French cooperage prior to being bottled. This big, Côte Rôtie-like Syrah, which finished at 14.8% natural alcohol, shows notes of underbrush, black olive tapenade, raspberry, black cherry, some kinky, funky notes of earth and spice, and a medium-bodied, fleshy mouthfeel. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.

The 2014 Syrah is one of the highlights among Pride's mid-tier offerings. Deep, powerful and explosive, the 2014 exudes raciness. Scents of black cherry, smoke, tobacco, spice and cedar give the 2014 much of its distinctive, bold personality. Drink this fruit-driven Syrah over the next handful of years.
