Drink 0-0, Neal Martin, May 2026

The 2025 Cap de Faugères was cropped at 27 hl/ha. It has an adequate nose, albeit without the complexity and nuance of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with a reduced mid-palate, rendering the finish a bit awkward at the moment. I will not score this for now. Tasted twice.

Checking in as a blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc raised entirely in stainless steel, the 2025 Château Cap De Faugères is always a good value, and this vintage is no exception. Red and black raspberry fruits, minty herbs, flowers, and some chocolaty, Saint-Émilion-like minerality all define the nose. Medium-bodied on the palate, it's supple and nicely textured, with outstanding length. This is a charming, seriously impressive barrel sample from Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux.

A fresh and crunchy red with blackberry and cherry character and a salty undertone from the limestone soil. Medium-bodied, fresh and vivid. A blend of 85% merlot, 10% cabernet sauvignon and 5% cabernet franc.

The 2025 Cap de Faugères is an attractive, fruity, entry-level offering from Silvio Denz. Crushed flowers, sage, mint, cedar, pipe tobacco and sweet dried cherry waft from the glass. This is a fine choice for drinking over the next handful of years. Tasted two times.
