The 2025 Fugue de Nenin has a quite perfumed bouquet with mainly red berry fruit and subtle tertiary scents. The palate is medium-bodied with light, slightly grainy tannins. Pleasant sapidity on the mid-palate, though it feels just a bit hemmed in towards the chewy finish. Not bad though.

A Merlot-dominant blend of 91% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc that's being raised in 5% new barrels, the 2025 Fugue De Nénin is a juicy, forward, and delicious second wine of Nénin. Black cherries, smoky chocolate, and ripe herb nuances define the nose, and on the palate, it's medium-bodied, round, and supple, with a nicely textured mouthfeel and soft tannins. It checks in at 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.6. This was the first year that they used a bain densimétrique (density-based sorting) as well as an optical sorter, and I think it shows in the finesse of the tannins.
The 2025 Fugue de Nenin is soft, plummy and open-knit, all of which make it a fine choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. Dark cherry/plum fruit, mocha, new leather, licorice and mocha are nicely pushed forward. There is a bit of edginess in the contours that needs time to soften.
Offering up notes of rose petals, sweet raspberries and plums, the 2025 Fugue de Nenin is medium-bodied, ample and fleshy, with bright acids and youthfully firm tannins.
