(75% garnacha, 20% syrah and 5% cabernet sauvignon, aged for 16 months in large and small used French oak casks): Saturated ruby. Sexy aromas ofblack raspberry, blueberry, incense and star anise, with a floralovertone. Sweet, palate-staining black and blue fruit flavors are silky and polished, becomingweightier and spicierwith air. Sweet,gently tannicfocused, finishingwithfloraland mineral nuances. Give this wine a little air of you plan on drinking it any time soon.

The 2010 Laurel is a blend of 70% Garnacha, 20% Syrah and 5% Cabernet aged half in troconic, wooden Taransaud vats plus 2- to 4-year-old barrels and it is essentially the second wine of Clos Erasmus. The 2010 has a very ripe, glossy bouquet with macerated dark cherries, soy and violets. The palate is full-bodied with succulent tannins married with good acidity, and pure dark fruits laced with balsamic, orange rind and a touch of rosemary, with fine delineation on the sensual finish. Drink 2014-2022. The name “Clos Erasmus” should need no introduction. It started out as a “fun” project when Daphne Glorian was visiting the region to see friends.
