The dark ruby-colored 2002 Gevrey-Chambertin En Motrot was harvested at 13.5% natural potential alcohol. Its spicy, blackberry-dominated nose leads to a medium-bodied character with outstanding balance, breadth, and depth of fruit. Full red-ruby. Black fruits, smoked meat and oak on the nose. Silky but tightly wound, with notes of black raspberry, licorice, game and torrefaction. Boasts good volume but finishes a bit clenched, with less early length than the “regular” Gevrey-Chambertin.

This estate, today with Arnaud Mortet at the helm, makes some of Gevrey-Chambertin’s finest wines. Working with 16 hectares, as well as a few négociant parcels, this property makes perfumed and chiselled Pinot Noir.
