Score 89-91/100 · Drink 2017-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2015

The 2013 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru les Poissenots which comes from a south-east facing 0.5-hectare of vines planted in 1959, has a ripe, candied bouquet with fresh blueberry and marmalade scents infusing the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine structure, good acidity and a backward, but focused finish. This feels a little taciturn at the moment but there is fine tension here. However, it feels slightly out-classed by its fellow premier crus this year.

An extra degree of fruit purity here, but some rather dusty wood part-masking it. Coherent palate structure, but will the wood integrate? (AH)
