The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Tamisot, from the parcel behind Damoy's house, is one of the most powerful wines in this range. Licorice, leather and cloves add nuance in this decidedly dark Gevrey. Today, the 2013 comes across as a bit rustic and rough around the edges. There is impressive concentration in the glass, much of it from the low yields of the vintage, but I have to wonder if perhaps the yields were too low to achieve true balance. My sense is that the tannins will always dominate the wine's balance, but only time will tell.

Deep crimson. Much cleaner than the Bourgogne, with a slight toasty/chocolate note. Firm, paper-fine tannins, a big step up from the Bourgogne, with just enough flesh in the middle. (JH)
