66% Marsanne, 34% Roussanne. No oak, no malolactic fermentation. Some cheese and dairy character despite the apparent lack of lactic influence! Slightly oxidative nose. Full and chewy texture. (RH)

Bright purple. High-pitched dark berry and floral scents are complicated by suggestions of cola, black pepper and allspice. Offers juicy blackberry and floral pastille flavors that deepen and pick up a sweet hint of mocha. The lively, seamless, emphatically fruity finish features very good finishing clarity and supple tannins that add shape.

What should end up being a good value, the 2014 Crozes Hermitage offers plenty of plum, blackberry and sappy herb aromatics to go with a medium-bodied, juicy, lively and fresh style on the palate. Where a lot of 2014s from Crozes have a hole in the middle, it has solid fruit, good mid-palate depth and enough fine tannin to keep it drinking nicely for 5-7 years.

Organic. Smoky, as though some rather toasty barrels were used . A bit rubbery and not much concentration. (JR)
