Dark red with ruby highlights. Reduced, distinctly wild aromas of black raspberry, roasted herbs and smoke, plus a whiff of petrol. Hugely rich and voluminous without coming across as heavy. Soil-driven flavors of black fruits, smoked meat, brown spices and singed underbrush convey a captivating restrained sweetness. Horizontal and very long on the aftertaste, with lingering notes of savory earth. There's just a single new barrel of this juice.

The 2014 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru was showing just a little reduction on the nose that was consequently difficult to read. The palate is medium-bodied and chewy on the entry, quite disjointed at the moment. It needs to develop more flesh and so I will defer judgement on this until a later date.
