Score 92-94/100 · Drink 2019-2035, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2015

The 2014 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru has a little more lift and intensity than the Charmes-Chambertin at the moment, with black cherries and a touch of blueberry, veering towards Clos de la Roche in style. The palate is well structured, quite grippy in the mouth and backward at the moment, but the pastille-like purity towards the finish is already evident. I also tasted this from used barrels, a little more fleshy and supple in the mouth with a touch of spiciness towards the finish. This is a supremely well crafted Clos Saint-Denis, though it does not quite possess the irresistible charm of the Amoureuses.
