Bright medium red. Musky aromas of raspberry, cherry, rose petal and peppery herbs, with some sexy high tones. Supple, spicy and sweet; a step up in ripeness, depth of flavor and length from the Pommard and Nuits-Saint-Georges village wines, perhaps with a bit more ripeness of fruit to support the whole-cluster fermentation. But also shows lovely juicy cut and energy owing to its herbal, spicy and floral elements. Nothing heavy here! Finishes with utterly seamless, fine-grained tannins.

Cask sample. 3 ha on 7 parcels. 12,000 bottles. A strong raspberry perfume and lots of exotic fruit. Broad, almost rude. Lots of mineral backbone. Masses of very obvious fruit and a bit of tingle on the end. (JR)

The Gevrey Chambertin is by far the largest of the Phillipe Pacalet village cuvees, hence also the most affordable and easier to find in the market – I think 14 casks are made. The 2015 version of this wines offer quite a lot more concentration than the lightfooted and delicate 2014 . The nose offer a rich mixture of red and dark berry fruit- brought forward by a slightly dusty earthy minerality … quite some reduction in this sample. On the palate rich and darker than normal – juicy fruit, fine intensity and length, with quite a grip from the tannins. A bigger and darker wine than in the previous vintages … but nevertheless very enjoyable. Mar 2016, www.winehog.org
