Bright red-ruby. Alluring scents of wild berries, game and mocha. Densely packed and impressively concentrated; a remarkably full, complex village wine with an exotic chocolatey quality to its briary black raspberry, dark cherry and coffee/mocha flavors. The big, thoroughly ripe tannins saturate the front teeth, giving the wine a serious structure for aging. Not a particularly sweet style but not a bit austere, and uncommonly classy and long for village wine. I suppose it's possible that a wine like this will never go through an extended sullen stage in the cellar.

Cask sample. Concentrated black cherry fruit and firm tannins – every inch the Gevrey, and proud of it. Great to have such unequivocal typicality. Firm, foursquare and savoury. (RH)

Bright dark red. Sexy black raspberry aroma complicated by hints of mocha and coffee. A suave, plush village wine with a lovely velvety texture enlivened by harmonious juicy acidity. Finishes with subtle sweetness and good medicinal black cherry reserve. The substantial tannins arrive late and build. Excellent potential here.
