Tasting notes
(from a 1.5 ha parcel that is almost entirely in the terres rouges section). Once again reduction largely dominates the nose though discreet floral nuances are perceptible. There is excellent size, weight and concentration to the overtly powerful big-bodied flavors that brim with dry extract that helps to buffer the considerable tannic spine shaping the youthfully austere, serious and built-to-age finale. In a word, impressive. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com

The 2015 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru includes 40% whole bunch this year and that lends complexity on the nose with brambly black fruit, briary and touches of undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with a structured, slightly tough opening. It is very structured with firm tannin, very saline in the mouth with a muscular finish that will soften with requisite bottle age. It is a fine Bonnes-Mares, but I know it can be even better.
