Score 89/100 · Drink 2019-2027, Neal Martin, Nov 2018

The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru has a smudged bouquet that lacks the detail of its peers and does not convey the same energy and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannin, suggesting a lot of maceration. The chewy, lightly spiced finish has plenty of substance, at the expense of the detail and delineation one would expect. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
