Superb intensity and clarity of fruit, ranging from blueberries to blackcurrants to oyster shells and lightly tarry accents. Finely laced tannins inhabit vibrant layers of blue fruit, licorice flavors and a tight, silky texture. Minerally and very polished. Drink now.

Mainly Merlot. Very luscious. Light, bright purplish crimson. Pale rim. Rather opulent nose with marked freshness. Unusually rich and sweet for a red Pessac-Léognan. The fruit almost completely masks the tannin which makes its presence felt only at the very end with some light sandpaper sensation. Very dramatic and showy. (JR)

The 2016 Baret has quite a rich and luscious bouquet with mulberry and raspberry fruit, generous if not the best defined within the Pessac-Léognan appelation this year. The palate is smooth on the entry with good depth, rounded with a slight tinniness towards the finish and maybe it just pulls up a little short compared to others. But it will provide a great deal of pleasurable early drinking.
