Score 92+/100 · Drink 2025-2036, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2018

Bright ruby-red. Very ripe, wild, soil-driven aromas of black raspberry, chocolate, menthol, oak and earth. Dense but light on its feet, with penetrating saline minerality and a peppery element giving definition and lift to the wine's slightly reduced dark fruit and licorice flavors. Tight-grained but edge-free, this firmly tannic, dry, very long wine is going to require patience.

Saturated deep ruby-red. Aromas of black cherry, black raspberry and earth convey an impression of chocolatey ripeness. A plush, creamy fruit bomb but with a crunchy quality and noteworthy mid-palate energy. This utterly fresh wine is still a bit youthfully monolithic. Finishes with very smooth, ripe tannins and superb length.
