Terrific notes of black cherries, violets, crushed flowers and smoked earth all emerge from the 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cazetiers, which is seamless and elegant. It has a focused, pure, seamless style, with building tannin, and is another wine from Mounir that needs time.

The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cazetiers has one of the most accomplished and harmonious bouquet of the Gevreys with lovely, very pure raspberry and fresh cranberry scents, a hint of bergamot and iris developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, redcurrant and cranberry notes, a touch of orange zest with a hint of volatile acidity on the finish just giving it a kick. This is the most feisty of their premier cru Gevrey's and probably the one that I would pick.

Bright red. Subdued nose hints at cherry syrup. Densely packed and wonderfully pure but in a rather cool, high-altitude style, offering flavors of blueberry, red cherry, minerals and earth. Finishes with suave tannins and lingering notes of red fruits and crushed stone.
