(14.1% alcohol; 40% new oak): Good bright, dark red. Rich, complex nose melds aromas of black cherry, currant, mocha, tobacco, leather and black olive. Wonderfully pliant and plush, with its blackberry pie and licorice pastille flavors complicated by game and black olive hints. Boasts strong fruit, not to mention excellent precision and inner-mouth tension. Finishes classy and long, with solid tannic grip.

A blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 40% new 600-liter barrles, the 190-case 2014 Flying Pig offers an intense nose of chocolate-covered cherries, dried herbs/tobacco, lead pencil shavings and damp earth. Rich, beautifully layered, concentrated and full-bodied, this is quite possibly the greatest vintage to date of this cuvee.
