The 2017 Brown is deep garnet-purple in color with a nose of stewed plums, baked cherries, cigar box and pencil lead with earth and herbs hints. The palate is medium-bodied, lean and chewy with a firm, herbal finish.

The 2017 Brown has a generous bouquet with mint-infused black fruit, traces of pine cone in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, lightly spiced with a lively, if not complex finish. This is a very capable Pessac-Léognan, albeit one that needs to muster more personality.

The 2017 Brown offers a mélange of red and black fruit on the nose, not quite as well defined as the best Pessac-Léognans that I have encountered en primeur, but it delivers satisfying intensity. The palate is fleshy on the entry with a fine bead of acidity, slightly sharp tannin with a strict and quite linear, iodine-tinged finish.

Slightly cloudy. Inviting combination of herbal citrus fruit and mealy oak on the nose. Deep and creamy on the palate with excellent freshness and persistence. (JH)
