Pale crimson. Light floral nose. Seems lighter than the Justice. Fresh and spring-like. Quite a bit of acidity. Chewy tannins. (JR)

A very Gevrey-style nose features ripe and very fresh aromas of game, underbrush, humus, pungent earth and an array of dark berry fruit scents. Here too the mouthfeel of the utterly delicious and slightly more mineral-inflected middle weight flavors is sleek and intense while concluding in a youthfully austere, firmly structured and impressively complex finish. Once again the quality Roy achieves with villages level vineyards is rarely matched and this is highly recommended. *Outstanding, Top Value*

The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur has a clean and fresh raspberry and cranberry leaf-scented bouquet, delicate at first but gaining intensity with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp red berry fruit, nicely poised and so easygoing on the finish you could drink it now! Very fine.
