Bottled (early) late November. Dark and savoury on the nose but still fragrant with dark fruit. An attractive stony/dusty character too. The heart is filled the lively, fresh dark fruit. Well balanced and long. (JH)

From a parcel that touches the premier cru of Poissenot, the 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles St Jacques is one of the high points of the portfolio, unwinding in the glass to reveal a classy bouquet of raspberries, orange rind, peony and rose petal. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, layered and elegant, with fine tannins, a bright line of animating acidity and a long, mineral finish. Delicate and vibrant, it's a lovely Estournelles St Jacques.
