Very bright morello cherry fruit and real energy here. This is coming along very nicely. The whole-bunch element is not aggressively evident but certainly contributes to the overall freshness. Good weight of fruit. (JR)

The 2013 Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru les Chaffots has a glorious nose, the kind you want to take home to your mum and dad. There are squashed raspberries and strawberry coulis, well defined with good mineral notes. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and good back bone, the three-quarters whole-bunch fruit well integrated with the character of the wine, perhaps discretely lending the finish clarity and detail. Excellent.

75% whole bunch. Just south of Monts Luisants, high up above the village. ‘This is what I call my rock star. Steep, nasty piece of ground.’ Seductive nose, slightly reduced in fact. Sweet and precise. Real freshness. Edge of orange peel and real finesse. Lovely stuff. (JR)
