(an 80/20 blend of merlot and cabernet franc): Bright red-ruby. Cassis, black cherry, menthol and bitter chocolate aromas are lifted by spicy and floral nuances. A spicy, juicy midweight with modest flesh but good energy for the vintage, thanks to its limestone lift. Finishes with firm, dusty tannins and good length. Drink now or over the next six or seven years.

A straightforward, somewhat angular and relatively malnourished St.-Emilion, this wine should be drunk up over the near-term, before it dries out.

Mid purple. Scented and firm. Sleeker than Simard. Dry on the finish. More pointed and energetic. Fades just a bit fast but a good attempt. (JR)
