Bright, mixed, red and black berry fruit, with touches of dark chocolate and stones. Lively acidity, but that runs into a block of pretty drying tannins, leaving the whole a little pinched. (TJ)

The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes 1er Cru, matured in 25% new oak and completely de-stemmed, has a vibrant, generous bouquet of copious dark cherry, boysenberry and undergrowth aromas, all well defined and neatly integrated with the oak. The medium-bodied palate offers grainy tannins, good acidity, a slightly chalky texture and superb delineation on the finish. This should drink very well for 15–20 years. Superb.
