The 2019 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is impressive, exhibiting aromas of sweet berry fruit, plums, rose petals, licorice and toasty new oak. Full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's rich and multidimensional, with a lively spine of acidity and an abundance of ripe, powdery tannin.

The 2019 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, two barrels (one new), had not been racked. It has a gentle, lilting bouquet of dark berry fruit that just needs more floral notes to develop. The palate is medium-bodied with a cohesive entry and earthy red berry fruit. Quite compact, and I would like to see more blue fruit and sensuality on the finish. A bit linear at the moment. This might have just not performed on the day.
