Tasted blind. Grassy aroma, quite green on the nose and markedly green on the palate. Fresh for sure but a little aggressive and sour on the finish. (JH)

The 2020 Doisy-Daëne Sec has a straightforward nose with touches of dried white flowers, but it needs more fruit. The palate is fresh, simple and malic, if just missing complexity. It’s not bad, but it feels a little raw on the aftertaste. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
Pretty high on the Sauvignon Blanc aromatics, but on the palate this is deftly handled, well paced with a raspy slate texture. Not hugely concentrated but this is pretty hard to argue with.
The 2020 Doisy Da�ne Blanc Sec gives up notes of fresh pears and white peaches with a savory undercurrent of baking bread, allspice and almonds. The medium-bodied palate is refreshing, offering a lovely purity of spiced pears flavors with a racy backbone and zesty lift on the finish.
About the producer
This Second Growth estate has origins dating back to the late 1800s. It is, however, under the ownership of the Dubourdieu family – who took over the Barsac property in 1924 – that Ch. Doisy-Daëne truly flourished.
