Score 89/100 · Drink 2024-2033, Neal Martin, Jan 2023

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has an opulent bouquet with cassis and black cherries, very floral to the degree that I thought it was from Vosne. The palate is sweet and candied with plush tannins, ripe and intense with an almost Syrah-like finish. Yet it still retains balance.

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, which comes from three lieux-dits, has another intense bouquet with dark cherries, violet and touches of cassis fruit, a light sea spray scent in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with a spicy, quite pepper entry. Just a little disjointed towards the finish, nevertheless, it should cohere by the time of bottling and there is fine persistence.
