Score 93/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2004

Medium red. Tight aromas of red cherry, redcurrant, rose petal, minerals and exotic spices. Silky, fat and sweet, but with the inner-mouth energy that comes from calcaire The most seductive today of these 2001s, and wonderfully pliant for the vintage. But this also boasts terrific freshness and grip. Finishes silky, rich and very long, with noble tannins.

Medium red, a bit less deep than the Combe aux Moines and Clos Saint-Jacques. Vibrant, scented aromas of red berries, rose petal and mint. Sweet, suave, juicy and pure, with lovely subtle intensity and inner-mouth perfume. The fattest and longest of these 2001s on the back end today, finishing with red fruit, spice and floral nuances.
