Deep, vivid ruby. Highly perfumed, incisive aromas of cherry and raspberry, incense, exotic spices and licorice, plus a bright mineral overtone that builds in the glass. Youthful, palate-staining red and blue fruit and spicecake flavors show superb depth as well as urgency, and a core of juicy acidity adds support and a bracing cut. Finishes with reverberating floral and spice notes, subtle tannic grip and lingering minerality. This is shaping up to be, perhaps, the most impressive wine I have ever had from this domaine, which I have been visiting since 1989.

Flowers, peppery spice, black raspberry, and underbrush on the nose. The wine is soft, polished, and vibrant with a juicy, creamy texture in the fruit-filled, spicy finish. Drink from 2024-2038.

The 2020 Côte Rôtie was all destemmed and is still aging in oak barrels (20% new). It's another beautiful wine from this estate, offering brilliant purity and elegance as well as medium to full-bodied richness. Lots of black raspberry fruits, notes of pepper, flowers, and spice, seamless tannins, and a great finish all define this beauty, and I suspect it's going to offer incredible pleasure right out of the gate.

Lifted, vibrant notes of blueberries and black olives appear on the nose of Burgaud's 2020 Cote Rotie, a blend of grapes from several lieux-dits, including Côte Blonde, les Moutonnes, Fongeant and more. One of the few producers who continue to produce only a single bottling, it's medium to full-bodied, a bit creamy in texture on the mid-palate and boasts a long, silky finish. While a bit raw and unformed, it looks to have excellent potential.
