The 2020 Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru displays a very slight, eggy scent on the nose. It is not potent, just lurks in the background, and therefore, I cross my fingers and hope that will dissipate with bottle age/decanting. The palate is promising on the entry with fine definition, but then it soon runs out of ideas, and the finish is rather one-dimensional and lacks charm. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.

This 2020 Chablis Premier Cru is not alone in having some exotic-floral aromas (think hibiscus) and quite a rich texture on the palate, but the special, chalky minerality of this appellation easily balances the ripe orange and melon fruit on the medium-bodied palate. Emphatically dry finish. Drink or hold.
