The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Combe de Dessus has a very well-defined bouquet with dark plum, freshly-rolled tobacco and pressed flowers. The palate is smooth and harmonious, the new oak beautifully-integrated with a supple, delineated, Vosne-inspired finish that becomes increasingly floral in the glass. Superb.

0.5 hectares planted in 1929, 1941 and 1985. Cold soak, fermented in stainless steel and concrete; pigeage at the end of fermentation. 20-month élevage in oak (20% new). Cask sample. Richer, fuller, less astringent than the Vosne. Red-cherry and strawberry fruit. Good length.  Quite classic and lovely. (MH)
