Scents of orange rind, rose petals, cherries, wild berries and spices preface the 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, ample and layered wine that's rich and concentrated, with lively acids and a chalky, mineral finish.

The 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is matured in 50% new oak and includes 60–70% whole bunch. The strict bouquet takes time to unfurl, eventually revealing blackberry, crushed stone and touches of decayed autumn leaves, complex and engaging. The palate is very focused with a savory opening, hints of salted licorice infusing the black fruit, and a grippy finish that might feel a little coarse in its youth compared to Roumier’s other cuvées. But it will age with style, for sure.
