Ripe raspberry, orange blossom, cranberry, cedar, licorice traces and violets introduce the 2021 Hermitage Le Gréal. Medium to full in body, complex and deep, the 2021 engages the palate with stunning concentration and intensity. Framed by ripe yet grippy tannins, this is a remarkably focused 2021 Hermitage built for the long haul.

Cask sample. Very expressive nose with pure berries, very subtle clove and spice and a slight menthol note. A refined palate with depth as well. The tannins are fine and very well managed. Bright red fruits, a slight smoke note beneath – wonderful grip. Yes, it is lighter, but it is not wanting for intensity and purity. Plenty of acidity should see this age very well indeed, leaving a light and elegant wine. Wonderful wine for the vintage. (AC)
