Score 95/100 · Drink 2022-2040, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Mar 2022

After a very dry and warm vintage, Studach's 2018 Malanser Pinot Noir was picked in early September, earlier than ever before. Fermented with 35% whole clusters and bottled in January 2020 with 13.8% alcohol, the wine shows a deep, intense, refined but generous, highly aromatic and slightly toasty bouquet of red berries and ripe cherries. Full-bodied, tight and tensioned on the palate with excellent mineral grip and ripe but refined and elegant fruit, this is a superb Swiss Pinot with fine but tight tannins and a drying but vital and saline finish. This is an extraordinary Pinot Noir from Malans that was handcrafted by one of the outstanding vignerons of Graubünden. 13.8% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted in Zurich in February 2022.
