One of the highlights of the range is the 2019 Chablis 1er Cru Les Roncières, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and chiseled wine evocative of pear, orange oil, beeswax and white flowers. Framed by chalky dry extract and racy acids, it's long and penetrating. As readers may remember, this cuvée hails from a parcel where the vines are planted east to west, so its grapes are never exposed to direct sunlight.

The 2019 Chablis Les Roncières 1er Cru felt a little reduced on the nose when I tasted it from barrel. The palate is well balanced with a sappy opening, revealing more tropical notes through the midpalate and a touch of countervailing bitterness toward the finish. Good potential, but one of the most primal of Puize’s 2019s.
