Score 90/100 · Drink 2015-2023, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Sep 2015

The 2006 Hermitage offers classic notes of black cherries, leather, smoked herbs and pepper, but possesses a savory edge on the palate, with some worrisome bright acidity causing the tannin to seem more coarse and dry than I'd expect from a 2006 Hermitage. Nevertheless, it has a vibrant, youthful color and medium+-bodied richness and depth through the mid-palate, and a good finish. However, owners will need to monitor its overall acid/tannin balance over the coming 7-8 years.

Inky violet color. Ripe cherry and cassis aromas are complemented by cocoa, violet and licorice nuances. Juicy, spicy and well-delineated, with an alluring sweetness to its dark fruit preserve flavors. Silky tannins build with air and add grip to a firm, impressively persistent finish.
