The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has fulfilled all the promise it showed from barrel, bursting with aromas of wild berries, cherries, sweet spices, loamy soil and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and vibrant, it's deep and concentrated, with a seamless profile and a saline finish. It's well worth seeking out.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village comes from vines between 50 and 80 years old. It comes across quite strict on the nose, certainly a lot more restrained than the Chambolle Village, with tight-knit loamy aromas. The medium-bodied palate presents crushed blackberry and cranberry fruit, a fine bead of acidity and impressive substance on the finish considering this is a Village Cru. A finely crafted Gevrey from Boillot that will last longer than I suspect many will allow.
