50% whole bunch, 25% new oak. Cask sample. Simple nose, but the black fruit really comes through on the palate, giving rich, thick, mouth-filling concentration. Finely polished tannins, just enough acidic refreshment and moderate persistence. (RH)

The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes from vines over 60-years old and it matures in 25% new oak and 50% whole bunches. This has a very expressive bouquet with blackberry, briary and light loamy aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with white pepper sprinkled over the dark berry fruit, hints of Earl Grey towards the nicely composed finish. Excellent.
